September in the Gaslamp is built for nights that start polished and end loud, and SideBar’s September 16–19, 2026 run lands right in that sweet spot. The boutique nightclub and lounge at 536 Market Street pairs a sultry lounge side and craft cocktails with immersive lighting, luxury VIP service, and a club side centered on live DJs. It is intimate enough to feel social, but designed for the full downtown-nightlife rush once the room fills in.
This week moves through three distinct DJ personalities, plus one Friday slot still under wraps. DJ Deefine opens Wednesday with local familiarity and open-format range. Thursday turns nostalgic with 2019 Red Bull 3Style World Champion J. Espinosa at the Y2K Party. Friday’s artist remains TBD. Then San Diego favorite Kaos closes Saturday with the kind of genre-hopping approach that fits SideBar’s luxury-meets-edge personality.
Wednesday, September 16 — DJ Deefine

DJ Deefine is a strong fit for Industry Wednesday because he already understands the room. The San Diego DJ and creative promoted an all-night SideBar Industry Wednesday set on July 22, 2026, while his current social profile identifies him as a DJ, creative, and entertainment director at The Local PB. In other words, this is someone connected to San Diego nightlife beyond a single booking.
Musically, expect range rather than one strict lane. SideBar’s previous artist profiles describe Deefine as an open-format DJ who moves between house, hip-hop, Latin sounds, and ’90s R&B; the venue has also credited him with dates from Southern California to Las Vegas and Manila, along with a feature on Pitbull’s Globalization on SiriusXM. His San Diego history includes a November 2023 booking at Parq Nightclub, too.
That makes Wednesday a night for recognizable records without an obvious playlist: club edits, hip-hop, house, Latin rhythm and throwbacks can all enter the picture. Deefine’s recent SideBar return means he knows exactly what kind of room he is walking into.
Thursday, September 17 — J. Espinosa Y2K Party

Thursday brings the week’s biggest competition résumé. Bay Area DJ J. Espinosa won the Red Bull 3Style World Championship in Taipei in January 2019, after previously earning U.S. honors in the competition. His career has also included work as the Oakland Raiders’ in-game DJ and radio appearances on stations including San Francisco’s Wild 94.9 and Los Angeles’ Power 106.
Espinosa is especially right for a Y2K Party because his appeal goes beyond simply lining up nostalgic hits. Open-format mixing and turntablist skill are central to his reputation; Red Bull’s 3Style format specifically rewards musical selection, creativity, technical ability and convincing transitions across styles. That background gives him plenty of room to jump through 2000s hip-hop, R&B, pop and club records without making the night feel like a predictable throwback playlist.
He also has serious reach away from the booth. Espinosa currently has roughly 149,000 Instagram followers, where he references both his 3Style title and his Slow Luv party project. More recently, he was billed for a Hennessy Social Club performance in San Francisco during Outside Lands weekend on August 9, 2026. SideBar is familiar territory as well: the venue booked him during its November 2025 DJ run.
For Thursday, the 2000s are the launch point. Espinosa brings the technical ability to turn that era into a fast-moving club set rather than a straight nostalgia trip.
Friday, September 18 — TBD

Friday is the wildcard. The artist hasn’t been announced, which adds a little extra tension without inventing a story around the mystery guest. SideBar regularly mixes returning local names with outside talent, and the venue’s broader nightlife concept centers on curated DJ programming, immersive lighting, VIP service, and an intimate club environment.
The move is simple: keep Friday open and watch SideBar’s channels for the reveal. SideBar’s official event platform already lists a Friday-night event for September 18, 2026, even though the indexed calendar does not currently disclose the DJ name.
Saturday, September 19 — Kaos

Kaos is the natural Saturday closer because his career is closely tied to San Diego nightlife. His current Instagram profile describes him as a DJ, creative, and party curator, while his management biography tracks appearances from Oxford Social Club in San Diego to Prysm in Chicago and On The Record in Las Vegas, plus international dates in the Philippines and Singapore.
He has also taken his sound beyond clubs through SiriusXM. Kaos became an on-air host for programming on Pitbull’s Globalization channel, and archived mixes show the open-format approach behind his reputation: high-energy selections, custom edits and genre shifts rather than staying locked into one sound all night. His management team notes that other DJs have picked up his custom edits and bootlegs for their own sets.
This isn’t his first SideBar appearance of 2026. Concert listings document Kaos at the venue on March 27 and April 4, giving him recent experience with SideBar’s room and crowd.
Expect a Saturday that can move through hip-hop, pop, house and throwbacks without losing momentum. Kaos knows San Diego, and he knows SideBar. That combination makes him an easy choice to take the week into its final late-night stretch.
SideBar All Week
The through-line is SideBar itself. The venue describes its concept as an intimate boutique nightclub and lounge, with seasonal cocktails and a more relaxed lounge experience on one side and live DJs, signature lighting and VIP service on the other. That split personality is exactly why this lineup works: start with drinks and a polished Gaslamp mood, then step into something louder without changing addresses.
September 16–19 gives San Diego three proven open-format personalities, a Y2K night led by a world-champion DJ, and a Friday reveal still to come. Pick one night or make a week of it. SideBar’s version of downtown nightlife is close-up, stylish, social, and built around the DJ booth.
